Rethinking Recruitment: Defining the Role of Each Channel
Clinical trial recruitment is often misdiagnosed as an execution problem, when in reality it is a system design issue. Without clearly defined roles across traditional, digital, and community channels, patient flow becomes fragmented and performance metrics lose meaning. Each channel reaches a different patient population at a different stage of readiness. Treating them as interchangeable leads to inefficiencies and hidden drop-offs. High-performing recruitment models assign clear responsibilities to each channel, enabling earlier patient discovery, better-qualified referrals, and more efficient site operations. When designed correctly, recruitment becomes predictable rather than reactive.
